Newfoundland had the better weather although Lee didn't see a lot of it inside an arena in The Goulds. There were some great dogs, though, and lots of laughs. The

Newfoundland Kennel Club puts on a large week end in July with two Obedience Trials and four Conformation Shows. Listening to Michael Hill speak of dogs he has seen in the country is a pleasure and an opportunity. He is tremendously knowledgeable and speaks to breeds as well as anyone I have had the pleasure of hearing. Coupled with Michael was Rick Fehler who has returned to judging with his pleasant way with exhibitors and his

obvious ease in dealing with both the people and their exhibits. Sunday it was Michael and Rosemary Shoreman who adjuidicated and completed a very pleasant panel. That means a great deal to exhibitors and none of these four judges failed them. There were more dogs than had been usual in St John's even two years ago and these increased numbers appear to be holding. The quality, as has always been the case, is high with lots of promising new puppies.

The German Shephered Specialty was a success from Chantelle's

reports. She enjoyed the outstanding dogs, the spectators and the strawberry shortcake but perhaps not in that order. The great ring size in a beautiful outdoor venue supports a great show. Ken gardened and gardened some more. The property is beautiful and the weather has been consistently shower-y with the occasional sunny break. It is good for anything green - but we are a bit tired of it.
The kennel is busy and the dogs are having a wonderful time. Kinky and Ben arrived Saturday

while Mickey departed amid a flurry of waves. Mickey and Kelsee had a good time together - an Australian Terrier and a Sheltie are an interesting pair and enjoyed each other's company. Next door in the adjoining big yard were Roddi and Ruari, Zoe, Abby and Trebia. All of the little dogs are highly compatible and they are delighted with the games they are developing and the ability to discover new smells and adventures. KC, Ben and Hershey rule number 3 yard and are great buddies. Hershey left Sunday and his owers were delighted with his new friendships as he declined to join them when they called because he was in the middle of a good game with his two buddies.

The Regalridge crew are thriving. The puppies are growing and learning all that puppies need to learn to join the larger world as responsible Airedales. They are trimmed and almost ready for their first Match. Charlotte continues to consider Chantelle her best friend and plays with her whenever the opportunity presents. Charlotte appears to have chosen Chantelle because she can win those contests - poor Chantelle. In her spare time, she taught the puppies how to unlatch gates - we are all pleased . . .
