The sun came out. It is still yellow, warm and bright. It makes flowers bright, encourages leaves to open and is an all round help in bringing wagging tails and smiles. Our Ken is over achieving - imagine that - with a very sore shoulder that might improve with rest, not that we are likely going to be able to prove that hypothesis. Flowers are blooming, birds are singing and summer additions are now at the feeders. The shite throat sparrow has arrived, joining the yellow finches and the red finch-like bird remains. It seems time for the swallows to return, always a harbinger of summer.
The kennel was busy with little jobs being added and sorted. By evening the rooms had been put to rights, washes finished, floors cleaned and shelves righted. The dogs approved, having offered extensive supervision. Only Scooter was put off by the activity, unable to go outside for fear that someone would touch her 'stuff'.
The house crew delighted in the improved weather. Charlotte spent the day snoozing, laid out on the top concrete step leading to the back door. Now that poses a slight problem for any person or canine wanting to enter or leave the house - Charlotte rules! Abigail had a trim, pedicure and general spring cleaning. She is happy to advise that she lived through it and will pay Lee back on a regular basis. Marguerite continues to thrive, getting larger by the minute at this stage. Lola is having progesterone testing done and will be bred this month. It will be a two Airedale year at Regalridge.
Dinner was again spring fare - grilled lamb chops, new potatoes and fiddleheads with cream of balsamic. Chocolate mousse rounded out the meal and all is well in Our Ken's world.
