The forecast for a lovely long week end of weather seems to be bearing fruit. Sun and twenty one degrees bring smiles and happy dogs. Even Phil and Philomena spent the day in the front yard, under the chestnut tree or back and forth across the grass, feather shining and appearing to be aware of their beauty. With their increased activity, the Airedales were at the fence to cheer them on. Our Ken spent the day romping from garage to kennel to fields to garage to gardens. There is a suspicion that the garage runs were to repair whatever it was that broke at each stop. It was a day to hang clothes on the line, to grill all meals and enjoy the outdoors. The little woodpeckers are busy at the Virginia suet that is protected by Our Ken who removes it to the bar b cue each evening, returning it to the tree when he surfaces in the morning - the critters of the night are not getting his special suet again!
The kennel is just busy enough. Atlas is enjoying his vacation and is best friends with Lola. Capone and Choppa were delighted to see Sarah and Alex - these star boarders are lucky dogs, removed from the SPCA by a great fellow and well suited to life in Hants county. Scarlett is settled and working with Sarah and Trebia to organize number four yard. Scooter had a little spin as Alex held the gate open for her. A coup in Scooter's world is a good thing. Coby and Gabe are managing yard three with puppy abandon, delighted in their good luck in finding a pal that looks like him.
The house crew are well and happy. Marguerite continues to hold the puppies inside, enjoying her special treatment, house food and overall improved status. Piper is less amused. With luck, the week end will bring puppies. Patti continues to thrive, delighted that her children were in residence for the day and keeping a very close eye on Sarah to ensure she didn't embarrass herself unduly . Charlotte holds the fort on the kitchen step. Marilla had a spa day and looks fabulous, a good thing after her exceptional greeting on seeing Alex. Jack also darkened the door of the spa - more reluctantly - but is happy with the outcome. Little does he know that this is a work in progress and that there is more to come. June supervised Lee's trim of the little fellow and shook her head at the antics. Rocky and Billy alternated in the big yards and the den, both preferring the den to the big sky.
Dinner included grilled salmon, new potatoes, fiddleheads and an assortment of desserts. Our Ken is content.
